About the Artist
Established Irish Artist Valerie Dennigan has been creating art for over 20 years. Living by the sea in Malahide and close to Malahide Castle and Gardens and all it has to offer has been the inspiration behind much of her work.
Her initial studies were in fine art still life, painting in oils. Enjoying learning the skills of blending colours meticulously to get the perfect tone and creating harmony in compositions was the beginning of her passion for art.
Her style has changed over the years. Today her larger scale seascapes and landscapes are approached in a more abstract way. She enjoys bringing the observer on a journey through her work by using definite brush strokes and uses harmonious colours to create visual impact for the viewer.
She prefers to paint these on a larger scale as it gives her more freedom for expression, and makes for a great statement piece.
Enjoying a more abstract way of painting led her to search for different mediums to work with. She also creates encaustic art, which is fusing wax with fire creating very individual pieces, and more recently has studied alcohol inks which are an equally challenging medium to use. The fluid style using these mediums and the unpredictable nature of them makes each piece a true original work of art in every sense.
Recently her pen and ink studies have been exhibited with an on line London based Art Gallery called Opulent Art, and one of her works was chosen for their May Catalogue cover photo.
